5G — the fifth generation of cellular wireless technology — represents a fundamental architectural shift from its predecessors. Unlike 4G, which primarily focused on faster mobile broadband, 5G is designed as a universal connectivity fabric that can support vastly different use cases simultaneously.

At its core, 5G introduces three distinct service categories: enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) for high-speed data, ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) for mission-critical applications, and massive machine-type communications (mMTC) for IoT devices at scale.
